Definition (Wiki): A domestic worker is a person who works within the employer's household. Domestic workers perform a variety of household services for an individual or a family, from providing care for children and elderly dependents to cleaning and household maintenance, known as housekeeping. Responsibilities may also include cooking, doing laundry and ironing, food shopping and other household errands. Some domestic workers live within the household where they work. For more click here.
There has been a long history of migrant workers from various countries being abused in the Middle East which sometimes results in:
- Suicide
- Kidnapping
- Enforced servitude
- Murder
- Defacement - mutilation, scarification by sharp objects, boiling water or chemicals
- Rape
- Torture - Burning, beating, hot ironing, starvation
- Etc.
In our research to obtain specific abuse data on various aspects of Migrant Domestic Workers in the Middle East we noticed a lack of centralized source. As a result, this site has been created so all concerned global citizens, Human Rights Organizations, and abused migrants can report, log and share the heinous practice of abusing immigrant domestic workers by Middle Eastern employees.
For those who treat their employees we give thanks for respecting their humanity but for those who abuse innocent lives we say we are watching you and reporting on you from this day on. We ask all participants of this effort to get detailed information about:
